Air Fryer Chips/Fries
How to make professional crispy Chips / Fries in your air fryer in only 20 minutes, amazing recipe, easy step by step instructions, from start to finish.
Ingredients
Method
- 700g / 1½lb Potatoes
- 22mls / 1½tbls Cooking Oil
- Salt and Pepper
- 15g / 1tbls Cornflour
- Only use potatoes that are suitable for chips/fries, I recommend for the UK, Maris Piper or King Edwards, for the USA, Yukon Gold, are a good choice.
- Wash, peel and cut your chips into 13mm or ½in strips.
- Rinse the chips in cold water to remove any starch, pat them dry on a clean towel.
- Get them into a clean large bowl, sprinkle of the cornflour, making sure each chip is evenly coated.
- Add the oil to the bowl, and with your hands, toss the raw chips until they are all covered in a coating of the sticky oil and cornflour mixture.
- Preheat your air fryer to 200°C / 390°F, run for 3 minutes
- Before adding to the air fryer, season the raw chips with sea salt and fresh ground black pepper.
- Once preheated, add the chips to the food basket, set the temperature to 190°C / 375°F set the time for 20 minutes, hit start.
- After 5 minutes, give the chips a good shake, get the back into the air fryer.
- After 10 minutes get them out again, give them another good shake once more, get them back in for the remaining 10 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, give them a final shake, also you can season a little more with sea salt and black pepper, get them back in for the last five minutes.
- The shaking every 5 minutes ensures even cooking and colour, plus shaking roughens up the edges of the potato, making for a crispier chip.
- Finally tip them into a kitchen paper lined bowl, to remove any excess oil.
