Hot Dog Sausage Rolls

How to make incredibly tasty Hot dog sausage rolls. Air fry & Oven bake methods included.  Quick, simple, cheap, and delicious. Step by step instructions from start to finish.

Method

  • Hot Dogs (I jar of medium size)
  • Puff Pastry (1 or 2 sheets)
  • 1 egg (egg-wash)
  • Starting with the main Oven method:
  • Dust your bench with a little flour.
  • Lightly dust and divide your pastry sheet into 4 equal size pieces.
  • Once your pastry is cut and dusted, stack and get them into the fridge for a few minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 170°C / 340°F / Gas mark 3.
  • Make up your egg-wash.
  • Prepare a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Get a sheet of pastry from the fridge and give it a thin coat of the egg-wash.
  • Place a hot dog sausage at the leading edge of the pastry sheet, and roll it forward a half turn, give the top edge a brush with egg-wash and continue rolling to the end.
  • Place the roll on the baking tray, carry on making the rest.
  • Once all of your sausage rolls are on the tray, leaving plenty of room for expansion, give them a good coat of egg-wash.
  • Take a sharp knife and score each roll 4 or 5 times evenly spaced apart.
  • Get you Dog rolls into the preheated oven, set your timer for 30 minutes.
  • Moving to the Air Fryer Method:
  • For the air fryer version, prepare the hot dog rolls in exactly the same way.
  • Take an air fryer drawer parchment liner, and place 2 or 3 rolls in it, making sure to leave space for expansion, brush the rolls with egg-wash.
  • Using the paper, carefully lift them into the air fryer drawer.
  • Get the drawer into the air fryer.
  • The settings I use in the video are as follows in numerical order.
  • Mode: Bake.
  • Temp: 170°C / 340°F.
  • Time: 12 Minutes.
  • Check your air fryer guidelines for the settings for your machine.
  • Once the time is up whether your using oven or air fryer, carefully get them out and on to a wire rack.
  • These hot dog sausage rolls are fantastic, hot or cold.
